Edge Detection of Images: An Experiment Using P-L-S Methodology

Abstract


Edges of an image can be represented by applying various edge detectors with different methodologies. Edge detection is a primary and very crucial part in image processing. In this paper, an innovative edge detection methodology which computes edges of several images using the quantitative combination of Prewitt-LOG-Sobel (P-L-S) edge detectors is presented. This methodology can be used as framework for multi-scale edge detectors for a very wide range of images in the field of image processing and computer vision. Here the proposed technique is compared with each edge detector separately.
