Abstract

A survey research on an Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) aimed attack on a specific target that compromise with their system and receives information about that target. The target can comprise of a person, an organization or a business. The threats of the corresponding targets are usually the governments and military organizations. The word threat doesn’t represent any malware involved, because an APT comprises of several different attacks. APTs are referred as cyberattacks which have been well sophisticated executed and well- resourced adversaries that target specific companies and governments, usually involving a long term campaign targeting with different steps. To a noteworthy extent, the academic community usually ignores these threats and hence objective approach to the APT issue is lacking. In this paper, we present the results of various studies done on APT that characterize, distinguish and attack model and analyze techniques that have been seen in APT attacks. We also compute some non- conventional counter measures highlighting APT in the directions for future research.
