Abstract

It is the legal and social responsibility of all the people involved in healthcare activities either directly or indirectly for safe and sustainable management of medical waste. This paper discusses how Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Internet of Things (IoT) will help in detection and tracking of medical waste and proper disposal and treatment of the same. The paper highlights the use of ICT and IoT in medical waste management in various countries and aims at implementing the same in India. The use of wireless Radio-Frequency Identification to track indoor waste and Global Positioning System for tracking waste outside the premises is being used.
