A Survey on Edge Detection of Images Using MPL Approach

Abstract


Abstract
Edges of an image can be represented by implementing several edge detectors with different techniques. Edge detection is a fundamental and very crucial part in image processing. In this paper, an improved edge detection technique which computes edges of several images using the quantitative combination of Mathematical Morphology-Prewitt-LOG (MPL) edge detectors is presented. This methodology can be used as template for multi-scale edge detectors for a very wide range of images in the field of computer vision and image processing. In this paper, the proposed technique is compared with each edge detector separately.
