Power Quality Improvement by Using Facts Devices with a Fuzzy Logic Controlling Technique

Abstract

This paper is proposed to improve the power quality in distribution system using the unified power quality compensator (UPQC).The UPQC contains shunt and series converter with DC link. The shunt converter removes current harmonics initiating from non-linear load side and series Converter mitigates voltage sag or swell initiating from supply side. The DC link control strategy based on fuzzy logic controller by proposing UPQC which has the superior capability of mitigating the effects of voltage sag/swell and suppressing the load current harmonics under the distorted supply conditions.
